Rules 1 - Nature

HOUSE IN NISHIMIKUNI | ARBOL

#Rules 1

Always bring Nature into the space.. The concept of minimal space normally include creating a space that speak less while letting the nature to speaks more.

The relationship of interior and exterior should be emphasized.

Roof Glass Termination

This is House in Buzen by Suppose Design Office. That element  that create the very light and floating feeling is the glaze roof, frame-less at the edge,  perfectly intersect with the wall, how does the detail of the connection looks like?

How the intersection of glaze with the Dark grey wood wall? How to seal the glass at the edge?

Is it the glass is larger, insect into the wall , and the finishes sit on top of the glass. Below is the example of the rood glass of Duncan Terrace.

Somehow detailing takes effort and time to understand. Minimalism design is not easy to do. It looks simple, but it is not.

The Grey courtyard

Minimalist is an attitude

Going minimal is a mindset that require deep discipline
It's an attitude, a choice..
In the world of thousand or millions, it's a state of mind that know what
To choose, to execute, to delegate or what  to ignore or to delete.

Leaf Chapel

This is a leaf chapel in Kobuchizawa, Japan designed by Klein Dytham Architects
08

Was intrigued by the lighting at first. the skin... there is a main steel structure in the middle, allowing the support of the glass, and the double skin.
The white steel metal leaf has 4700 holes and each holds acrylic lens, and the inner part is formed by fabric skin.

one thing i find not practical is the bench with the glass support (where it is printed with grass pattern) , the visitor might feel uncomfortable to lying the back on the glass.

(but it is still looks incredibly nice)

While the back part is actually a wall supporting the staircase and a storeroom.

A church with a huggy feel leaf skin made of bridal lace located in a nature setting, with nice water reflection, sound not bad ha? :)

-LV in Roppongi Hills Store-

Jun Aoki design, similar to Kengo Kuma,  is always focus on Dematerialization... employing  the new ideas in how to put materials together in a new way.

There are two types of design in the Facade, First it is the 10cm diameter glass tube with 30cm long sandwiched in between glasses. It create a dynamic facade that has different quality depends on the viewer angles and lightings/day and night.

While another interior partition is to have a "skin" made of intersecting metal rings which establish a sense of dynamic without blocking the view.
As the design intention is to have ''the store to be transformable, so it could evolve seasonally or even daily '' Aoki.

Statement :
As meeting a good client that able to tolerate period of schematic design and accepting  new design ideas is the key to allow architects and designer to explore new way of making a better facade. Commonly, it's the budget the constraint the exploration and innovation. In Contradict, the badget is also the another way of exploring the possibly of design in a restrained state.
